The first edition of librarian and author Richard Garnett's (1835-1906) witty drama based upon the legends surrounding the life of a young William Shakespeare, including his attempts at poaching and early efforts as a playwright.

William Barclay Squire (1855-1927), music librarian and scholar, sometime colleague of Garnett at the British Museum.
