A handsomely bound copy of the first edition of German historian and politician Friedrich von Raumer's (1781-1873) account of diplomatic relations between France and Germany in the mid-nineteenth century.

From the library of Exbury House, Hampshire, recently dispersed (without any indication of such). Exbury House was acquired by Banker and politician Lionel Nathan de Rothschild (1882-1942) in 1919 and remains in the family to this day. Many of the books in the library were inherited from Alfred de Rothschild (1842-1918) of Halton Estate, notably considered one of greatest art collectors of his day.
