The sole edition of military historian Sir John William Kaye's (1814-1876) biography of East India Company servant Henry St George Tucker (1771/2-1851).

A native of the Bermudas, Tucker first sailed to India in 1776 where he took up various clerical engagements. In 1812 he was appointed secretary in the colonial and financial department of the East India Company and thereafter rose swiftly through the ranks. In 1826 he was elected a director of the Company and went on to serve as chairman in 1834 and again in 1847.
