The first edition of the diary of Alexander Jaffray (1614-1673), respected member of Cromwell's parliament and commissioner to Charles II who would become a significant convert to the Quaker movement. Divided into two parts, the first half of the memoir covers Jaffray's life before joining the Society of Friends, with the latter half espousing his new faith under the title 'Memoirs of the Rise, Progress, and Persecutions, of the People Called Quakers in the North of Scotland'.
