The first edition of selected 'Fugitive Pieces' by Lord Byron, including several never before printed, requested by English composer Isaac Nathan (1792-1864), who desired to combine selected tunes from synagogue usage with new lyrics. The poet's notoriety, combined with Nathan's own burgeoning musical career, would leave the volume in print for the remainder of the century.
