Hermann Vámbéry (1832 - 1913), was a Hungarian orientalist and traveller. A professor of Oriental languages at Budapest 1865-1905 and a member of the Hungarian Academy. He undertook a linguistic mission into Central Asia for the Academy. During the years 1857-63 he lived in Constantinople where he learned several languages and dialects of Asia Minor. Scarce.
