Sewn within original publisher's pale-blue paper wraps. Slight creasing, else a fine presentation copy from the author. Inscribed 'H. Lonsdale M.D. With authors Compt.' to head of title, with a short annotation in the same hand relating to the success of lithotomy at Newcastle Infirmary, where the author practised as Surgeon. The original condition of this volume is all the more remarkable given that it was posted, with a half-penny red affixed to verso, postmarked 1870 and addressed to Lonsdale.
