Included is an A.L.S. from Prendergast addressed to Jellicoe, who provided to preface for the work, describing the somewhat unexpected publication of the French translation and conveying the success of the German edition. He continues to give account of new information recently received on several actions of German submersibles during the First World War, ending by thanking Jellicoe for his contribution.
